2019: Anambra electorate urged to participate in INEC display of voter’s register

INECREGISTERED voters in the just concluded voter’s registration exercise in Anambra State have been advised to visit their wards for confirmation of their names and other personal information, as recorded in the INEC register.

This was part of the sensitisation rally organised in Awka and its environs by Kings Faith Development and Youths Empowerment Initiative, KDYEI, Justice Development and Peace Carit as, JDPC, Awka in collaboration with the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC yesterday, on the importance of collection of Permanent Voter’s Card in the forthcoming general elections.

The roadshow kicked off from Amawbia roundabout through Eke Awka to Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital Amaku -Awka junction and terminated at Aroma junction axis of Enugu- Onitsha. Express road.

The Executive Director KDYEI, Mr Kingsley Chukwurah emphasised the need for people to visit their wards to make corrections where necessary as INEC has commenced mop-up of the voter register in the state, in preparation for next year’s elections, pointing out that wrong information could disenfranchise one in the elections.

On his part, the Programme Officer, JDPC Awka, Mr Onyekachi Samuel while describing PVC as the people’s power to choose leaders of their choice, expressed worry over the poor response in PVC collection, encouraging eligible voters in the state to secure their voter’s card in order to vote next year, stressing that it is one of the people’s civil rights and obligations.

Our correspondent also gathered that registered Permanent Voter’s Cards from 2010 to March this year are already out and ready for collection at the three hundred and twenty-six wards of the state, while the ones registered from April to October this year would be out next month.
