A Zamfara state born federal Permanent Secretary, Alh Abu Magaji who will soon be retired, from service has declared his interest to join politics through a letter he wrote to the state chapter of the Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC )

The state chairman of IPAC, Sani Danmasani, told newsmen in Gusau on Saturday that after receiving the letter from the top civil servant, the executives of the body met and deliberated on the issue.

Danmasani remarked that the state chapter was impressed with his resolve to join politics after his lengthy career in the civil service.

“In fact, we are highly impressed and feel greatly honoured by first recognising with us and even went to the extent of writing to us about his intention to join active politics when he retires soon.

According to him, ‘IPAC as a body is proud of Engr, Abu Magaji, for deeming it fit to say he is going to join politics through the association of political parties. This has never happened at the state level or even at the national level.

He stressed that “even though, he did not mention the political party he intends to join, but we look at this as respect to all political parties in the state and even if he chooses the political party he wanted to join, it shows that he would as well carry everybody along and this would promote the much cherish democratic norm we are trying to sew in the country.”

Danmasani, therefore, called on all political parties in the state to reciprocate the gesture by giving him all the necessary support.

Meanwhile, part of the letter to IPAC reads inter-alia: “The purpose of this letter is to formally inform you that in recent times, I have been receiving calls and invitations from individuals and groups that I should join politics after my retirement from public service.

‘In their wisdom, they believe I will make a positive contribution towards the development of our society”.

“In compliance with our religious teaching and our good tradition both of which recommend listening to good advice, I decided to consider the invitation and have decided to answer the call of the people.

‘I, therefore, wish to inform you that on my retirement from the Federal Civil Service which will be very soon, I intend to participate actively in the politics of Zamfara state and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”
