2019: No one can stop Wike’s reelection – PDP chiefs

PORT HARCOURT- Chieftains of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, and members of its pro-group, Grassroots Development Initiative, GDI, have stated that no individual or security forces can stop Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, from wining and completing his second term in office.

They spoke in Port Harcourt at the reception of hundreds of defectors from All Progressives Congress, APC, to the PDP through GDI, at Rumuola, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of the State.

Speaking on behalf of the 23 PDP chairmanship candidates for the June 16, 2018, Local Government Areas’ election, in the state, Hon. Samuel Nwanosike, said that PDP and GDI had decided to work tirelessly for the success of Wike’s reelection.

Nwanosike, who is the National Publicity Secretary of GDI and immediate past Publicity Secretary of PDP in the State, said Wike should be allowed to complete his eight years in office, disclosing that the body has endorsed Wike to continue his developmental work and mobilize supporters from across the 23 local government areas of the State, to ensure his victory.

Nwanosike said: “Governor Nyesom Wike has created an enabling environment for effective grassroots participation in politics by fixing a date for the local government elections.

“Our leader, Governor Nyesom Wike, has redefined the People’s Democratic Party in the past years. With the ongoing development projects in the 23 local government areas of the state, Governor Wike has shown that he has managed our resources well.

“No one can stop Governor Wike from completing the good work God has called him to do in the state. We will support his second tenure. Wike will sweep all the votes in the 23 LGA and their wards.”

However, the member of the House of Representatives, Okechukwu Chindah, has enjoined the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to be transparent and conduct a free, fair and credible elections in 2019.

Chindah noted that they would resist any attempt to rig election in the state in 2019 by security agencies and any other body, adding that their focus is to ensure victory for Wike in 2019.
