No fewer than 455 beneficiaries of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP) are currently undergoing vocational training in various skills, as the reintegration phase of the programme gathers momentum.

Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta and Coordinator, Amnesty Programme, Professor Charles Dokubo disclosed this yesterday at the inauguration of vocational training for 72 participants in various skills at the Fouzz Fashion Institute at Igando, Lagos.

Dokubo said PAP’s mandate is basically to train and empower its beneficiaries, besides serving as a vehicle for maintaining peace and security in the Niger Delta.

You are going to attain the goals for which the Amnesty Programme was set up. Amnesty Programme is a vehicle to train and empower people so that they can fend for themselves.

“This is an opportunity for all of you. You must know why you are here and for each one of you, there is a bright prospect. Whatever you do and wherever you put your heart, you will excel,” Dokubo told the beneficiaries.

Besides the 72 beneficiaries, 19 others are also being trained at Green House in Lagos, just as 200 other beneficiaries are undergoing welding and fabrication training in Ondo State. All 455 beneficiaries currently undergoing vocational training in various centres across the country were deployed between March and November this year.
