
The Ogun State Government has presented cash prices ranging from N2 million and 5,000 Dollars to winners in various categories at the just concluded African Drum Festival held in Abeokuta.
Presenting the cheques to the winners, the state Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun expressed gladness for the successful hosting of the festival, describing drum as a veritable tool and catalyst for the socio-economic development of the state, assuring that the next edition will witness participation from more countries, states and private troupes.
In the state troupe category, Kwara State came first with N2 million, Enugu came second with N1 million, Ogun State came third with N500,000, while Unique Fingers, Ijo Easy and Foot Prints of David came first, second and third in the private troupe category earning N2 million, N1 million and N500,000 respectively.
In the foreign category, Congo Brazzaville, Cote d’voire and Togo came first, second and third, earning, 5,000, 3,000 and 1,000 dollars respectively, while special recognition and cash awards for the Best African Drummer, award for individual performance in the male and female category went to Pa Adewole Oniluola, Pa Anthony Odili from Rivers State, Alhaji Mogaji Makuta, Ogunde Troupe, Ogun State Cultural Troupe, Muyideen Olatunji, Ara, the drummer, the Ekemini troupe from Akwa Ibom State, Sylvanus Kuwor from Ghana, Luis Ndolovu, representing Zimbabwe and Ayanyinka Olowogangan respectively.
