Amid apprehensions over the fate of Dr.Tony Nwoye as candidate of the APC, one of the aspirants in the primary election, Barrister Nonso Madu has cautioned the party against annulling the results, saying doing so would be an insult to party members who took the sacrifice to vote.

Madu in a statement last weekend rebuffed claims in the petition filed by Senator Andy Uba that thugs voted in the primaries saying that authentic party members and delegates were verified by Governor Kashim Shettima who personally interacted with the delegates.

Madu’s claim came against the background of the petition filed by Senator Uba against the emergence of Nwoye as party candidate. Besides Madu, former Governor Jim Nwobodo and a host of other stakeholders who praised the conduct of the primaries which they described as transparent.

Madu in his statement while alluding to petty traders and artisans who left their goods to vote said:

“Despite the late commencement of accreditation due to rigorous security checks, and slight rainfall, resilient party men and women stood firm in their resolve to vote.

“It is therefore disheartening, disrespectful and out rightly inhumane for a candidate that participated in the same election and hailed the process as being transparent to turn around to refer to this individuals as thugs and members of NANS.

“It is equally sad that someone who wants to fly our party’s flag will refer to Mrs Okoye from Abatete, Isaac Nnebedum from Ekwusigo, Yokov Chike Okafor,Dr Mrs Anyabolu from Idemmili and over 4 thousand others as thugs and miscreants simply because he lost a primary election.

“These are people from different fields of human endeavor. They are retired civil servants, lawyers, doctors, traders, carpenters, mechanics and drivers.

“The real heroes of the Anambra state APC primaries are these men and women, young and old, able and physically challenged who defied all odds and stood up to be counted.

“They are delegates not thugs. The August 26th 2017 primary election victory belongs to them.

“While we await the official submission of Dr Tony Nwoye’s name as the APC flag bearer for the November 18 2017 Governorship elections, we assure the national leadership of our party that these great men and women will repeat the same feat on Election Day. They won’t be doing so all alone, they will be coming out with their sons and daughters, cousins, uncles, aunts, friends, colleagues and other party faithfuls to ensure victory for our party.”
