A court in Ankara is expected to deliver its verdict in a trial related to one of the worst terrorist attacks in Turkey’s modern history in which 103 people were killed.

Turkey blamed the Islamic State extremist group for the twin bombings in the national capital on Oct. 10, 2015, that targeted a pro-Kurdish peace rally near the main train station.

Only 10 of the 36 suspected Islamic State militants sought for the attack are currently under arrest.

When the trial started in November 2016, the prosecution said 16 were at large and were believed to be in neighbouring Syria.

Four suspects were subsequently released, while another was killed in a police raid in Gaziantep, south-eastern Turkey in October 2016.

According to the 573-page indictment, seen by dpa, 35 suspects were Turkish nationals while one was from Kazakhstan.

The indictment says all the suspects are linked to Islamic State and committed the crime in the name of the terrorist group.

They coordinated the attack with Syrian nationals, it adds.

All of the 36 are accused of attempting to overthrow the constitution and manslaughter, while 12 are separately accused of being a member of an armed terrorist organisation.

The prosecution has demanded life sentences for 10 suspects, according to state news agency Anadolu.
