A plane carrying election materials and police officers to oversee gubernatorial elections in the Indonesian province of Papua came under fire on Monday, leaving its pilot injured, local media reported.

The plane had just landed at Keneyem airport in the Nduga region when members of an armed group fired on the plane from the left side, leaving the 27-year-old pilot with a gunshot wound, The Jakarta Post reported.
