Army destroys militia camp, arrest spiritual leader in Nasarawa

ABUJA-THE Nigerian Army has said its troops of 177 Guards Battalion, Keffi, in Nasarawa State, arrested a militia spiritual leader based in Toto Local Government Area of the state.

The troops also destroyed the militia following an operation carried out in Ugya Village of the Nasarawa council area.

The spiritual head of the militia group, one Angulu Idaku was also arrested, “a statement by Army spokesperson, Brigadier General Texas Chukwu said.

“Troops of 177 Guards Battalion while on raid operation at Ugya village in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State destroyed some armed militia camp, “it said even it did not state when the operation was carried out.

It listed items recovered include:” Seven locally made guns; 12 cartridges; 200 rounds of 7.62MM special ammunition;76 rounds of 7.62MM NATO special ammunition;four knives;15 cutlasses ;six mobile phones;one DSP decoder set and four panel sets.

The Army in the statement, advised members of the public to report any suspicious activities to the security agents.
