ASABA – DELTA State Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye has reiterated the commitment of the state government to completion of palliative works on all ongoing roads cuttings in Asaba and Okpanam areas before the commencement of the African Senior Athletics Championship billed to hold on August 1 to 5 in the Stephen Keshi Stadium in the state capital.
Augoye, who stated this while answering questions from newsmen at a press briefing in Asaba, said palliative work would be carried out on Jesus Saves Road to make it serve as alternative route for motorists who will not be able to pass through some parts of Nnebisi Road during the competition.
Assuring that the ongoing construction of roads and drains would not affect the championship, he said construction works were a continuous exercise that would not stop.
While maintaining that the approach to achieving result was key, he explained that the contractors handling the various drain projects were using ring culverts and special cement that would make it unnecessary for the 21-day period to elapse before usage.
