The Nigeria Police, has debunked the recent reports making rounds, that the Police has invaded the Ekiti State Government House, as alleged in some quarters, earlier today.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Ekiti State Police Command, and sent to Post-Nigeria, on Wednesday evening.
The statement reads in full:
The attention of the Ekiti State Police Command, has been drawn to recent messages being circulated in the social media, that ‘the Police have invaded Ekiti State Government House’.
The Ekiti State Police Command urges members of the public to consider the content of the message as misleading, and aimed at causing anxiety in the minds of Ekiti citizens.
In furtherance to the presence of Police Officers around the Prof. Olusola Eleka pavillion, at Fajuyi, today, 11th of July, 2018, two (2) political parties intended to have their rallies at the same date, and in Ado-Ekiti metropolis, but the Commissioner of Police advised the political parties in writing on the need to have their political activities at different times, and because of its security implications.
The Police will at all times, continue to maintain law and order, and also rise up to its responsibility to perform its mandatory and statutory duty of protection of lives and properties of innocent citizens in the State, before, during, and after the election.
The Police would also want to use this medium to alert the general public, that they should expect more of these misleading information from person(s) who do not mean well to the good of the people of Ekiti State.
The Police enjoins the general public, to confirm the source of their information, before circulating same to their friends or loved ones.

Elsewhere, the Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Operations, Mr. Habilal Joshak, has said that the security details of important personalities in Ekiti State, will be withdrawn, on Saturday.
The Police boss, added that no party will be allowed to hold any political rally that is not approved by the Police, until the election is held.
Addressing Journalists in Ado-Ekiti, on Wednesday, Joshak stated that he would work with one Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Mr. H.H. Karma; and three other Commissioners of Police, Ali Janga, J.B. Kokumo, and G.B. Umar, who would man each of the Senatorial Districts in the State.
Joshak said that they have contacted the security details of Governor Ayodele Fayose, and the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, and other top government officials, to report at 6am, at the Police Headquarters, in Ado-Ekiti, on Saturday.
“We will not allow anybody to go to the polling booth with armed men, because it will be a breach of the Electoral Act.
“We have contacted them, and they have to be here before election commences. This election must not be compromised.
“They will be documented, and whoever defies this will be sanctioned, because they have been contacted”, he warned.
