Lagos State Commissioner of Police (CP), Edgal Imohimi, recently paraded one Osaro Okonoboh and Lucky Oboh on August 6, 2018, for an alleged attempt to assassinate Gladys Osaigbovo-Omon at her residence in Benin City, Edo State.

Imohimi disclosed that the suspects, who were arrested on July 26, 2018, made an attempt on Gladys’ life on the instructions of her younger sister, Augusta Osaigbovo.

During their parade before media men, the police also alleged that Gladys fell out with Augusta, who lives in the United Kingdom (UK), over a human trafficking case.

The Police helmsman told journalists that Augusta contracted her cousin, Okonoboh to kill Gladys, saying Augusta was once convicted in the United Kingdom over offences bothering on human trafficking.

Imohimi further alleged that Okonoboh sought the assistance of his friend, Oboh, who in turn recruited two men to carry out the task.

However, Augusta recently explained her position in a letter to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Ibrahim Idris, requesting the Nigeria police to thoroughly investigate the allegation with substantial evidence by virtue of its statutory responsibility and professional ethics, before prosecution.

“The major actors in what I would regard as orchestrated and organised drama are my family members.

While Gladys is my elder sister, Okonoboh, the paraded suspect, is my cousin.

“Ironically, this gang-up and frame-up by some of my family members is not the first of its kind.

It actually started in 2012 when Mercy, Gladys’ daughter, who I took to the UK and was staying with me, framed me up with human trafficking.”
