BAUCHI State Governor, Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar has been applauded by a civil society organization known as ‘ ‘Congress of Nigerian Eligible Voters’ (CONEV) for what it described as his various intervention programs’ in the education sector of state since coming to power in 2015.
The commendation was made by the organization during a solidarity rally in support of the Governor held at the Government House, Bauchi.
While speaking during the rally, leader of the Congress, Comrade John Ngene Offia said education programs introduced by the Governor such as the schools renovation, employment of more qualified teachers, provision of free feeding for primary pupils, provision of motorbikes to education supervisors in the state as well as the construction of residential quarters for the teachers would motivate the teaching staff and revamp the sector.
“We are aware that the free education introduced by your administration is saving parents of about N2 billion annually. Likewise, the removal of feeding fees and levies have helped parents to enrol more children in the schools,” he added.
Ngene Offia added that, “It is in the light of the above enumerated achievements by His Excellency, the Governor, that all these people here today, have come to make the following silent points that His Excellency has by the assessment of Nigerian Eligible Voters whom for their sake you are working day and night to ensure a secured future for them, have today declared that you have performed creditably well and consequently found you fit for a second tenure as the Executive Governor of Bauchi State come 2019”.
While responding on behalf of the Governor, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Muhammad Nadada Umar expressed appreciation to them for the solidarity promising that the government would continue to implement programs that would touch the lives of citizens.
