Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Bayelsa State, Mr. Cleopas Moses, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Brass constituency 1 in Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Hon. Israel Sunny-Goli, are now locked in war of words over defections claims made by the latter.

Sunny-Goli had claimed that the leadership of the PDP in the state were after him because he refused to join the party to contest the Nembe/ Brass Federal Constituency seat under the platform of the PDP.

Moses, in a press statement he personally signed, however, punctured his claims noting that Sunny-Goli is a “drowning politician whose stock in trade is notoriety, violence, occultism and blood-thirstiness just to acquire political power.”

According to the PDP chairman, “no organ of the party or its leader, Governor Henry Seriake Dickson, has initiated any move to woo the lawmaker to the party, rather it is the same Sunny-Goli that has tirelessly pressured our party through his brothers and friends that are not our members that he wanted to join the PDP, a request that has severally been rebuffed and turned down.”

Moses, who called on Bayelsans to ignore Sunny-Goli, expressed confidence that the lawmakers would suffer a crushing defeat in the quest for the House of Representatives seat after which he would be made to face prosecution for all his nefarious activities.

Sunny-Goli, in his reaction through his media assistant, Sam Dogotimi, described Moses as a ‘willing stooge’ handpicked to run executive errands to the detriment of majority of PDP members in the state.

The lawmaker insisted that he refused all the carrots dangled before him by the PDP to join the party.

He said Moses should stop his “fruitless journey of disparaging Sunny-Goli and think of how he would speedily settle the myriads of disputes currently bedeviling the party before it completely crumbles in his inefficient hands.”

Sunny-Goli maintained that he is well loved by the people for being in the APC and would refused to be intimidated to abandon the quest for justice for two APC members murdered in cold blood Twon Brass.

“Contrary to what Cleopas is feeding the public, the PDP has since my emergence as an assemblyman been wooing me to join their party, which I have severally, declined because of my loyalty to the All Progressives Congress (APC), as well as disdain for PDP undemocratic ways.

“Moses had on several occasions approached me to join the party and he cannot deny unless he wants God to punish him for lying to the public.

“It goes without saying that Cleopas’ unwarranted statement is another failed attempt by the leadership of the party to cover the heinous act perpetrated by some PDP members in Twon Brass.

“The killers and their sponsors would be apprehended by the long arm of the law and no biased recommendations and baseless accusations by the PDP leadership can stop it,” Sunny-Goli said.
