The Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has claimed that he will emerge as Nigeria’s President in 2023 on the platform of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

Okorocha added that he has no serious opposition going into the 2019 Senatorial election, as he had retired the likes of Arthur Nzeribe and Achike Udenwa, who used to be political heavyweights in Imo State.

Okorocha expressed certainty that Uche Nwosu, his son-in-law, would win the Governorship seat in Imo State, while he would himself clinch a seat in the Senate, after which he will succeed President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

“Nwosu will win in 2019,” he said on Tuesday while addressing some politicians who paid him a courtesy visit at the Government House in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

“Don’t be afraid, I am there. I have retired the Arthur Nzeribes, the Udenwas; now I will retire the rest of them finally.

“I know them and they know me; their plan is to push me so that they can get the Senate. It’s a lie; I will run for the Senate as well.

“Nwosu is the least of the political children I have trained but I don’t know any of them as much as I have known him. I took him up when he was just nobody and he grew to the height he is now, his only sin is that he is my son-in-law.”

Expressing delight at Buhari’s decision to seek re-election, Okorocha said: “Buhari will win again and again. After Buhari, the turn will come to South-East and it will be the turn of Okorocha.”
