The Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is reportedly in a clear lead in the February 23 general elections, across 17 States of Nigeria.
This is coming after the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Local Government collation and announcements.
The States include: Benue, Taraba, Plateau, Oyo, Ondo, Enugu, Edo, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi, Abia, Cross Rivers, Akwa Ibom, FCT, Adamawa, Bayelsa and Rivers.
From the demographics, it shows Atiku Abubakar is retaining his strongholds, while eating deep into the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, strongholds.
For instance, in Oyo State, the PDP lost with 200,000 votes, in 2015, but presently, the party is in a clear lead in the State.
In addition, Atiku is set to score higher margins in the North West, while splitting the votes in his home region, the North-East.
It is remarkable how Atiku is doing very well in the South-West and North West, regions designated as President Muhammadu Buhari’s strongholds.
More results will be communicated as they are announced.
