Former Head of State, Abdulsalam Abubakar, and Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Matthew Kukah, are currently meeting with Professor Mahmood Yakubu, the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, ahead of the re-run election in Osun State, scheduled for Thursday.
The meeting is holding behind closed-doors, at Enugu Hall, Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
Details of the meeting were still sketchy as at the time of this report.
Recall, that on Sunday, INEC had declared the Osun State Governorship election inconclusive.
In recent years, Abdulsalam has earned a reputation for stepping in when results of elections tend to portend negative consequences for peace and stability in the country.
In 2015, the Peace Committee which he headed, prevailed on former President, Goodluck Jonathan, to concede defeat in the Presidential election, before the official announcement of the results by INEC.
