The Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja, has on Thursday, laid the bare facts on the table, on why the recent promotion of ACP Jimoh Moshood, the Force Public Relations Officer, FPRO, is a welcome development.
Recall, that the recent promotion of Jimoh Moshood, FPRO, to Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, Ag. DCP, has generated a lot of criticism and controversy among a certain class.
Reacting however, a short statement from the Force Headquarters made available to Post-Nigeria, has finally set the record straight.
The statement reads in full:
The promotion of ACP Jimoh Moshood, FPRO to Ag. DCP, became necessary, because of the existing vacancy in the Force Public Relations Department, for the rank of Commissioner of Police.
Furthermore, his promotion will assist to bring him at par in rank to the National Public Relations Officers of the under-listed organisations that have equivalent of Commissioner of Police and Deputy Commissioner of Police as their Public Relations Officers:
(i) The Nigerian Army – has Brigadier-General as Director of Public Relations;
(ii) The Nigeria Navy – has Commodore as Director of Naval Information;
(iii) The Nigeria Air Force – has Air Vice Marshal as its Director of Public Relations;
(iv) The Nigerian Customs Service – has Deputy Comptroller as its Public Relations Officer;
(v) The Nigerian Immigration Service – has Deputy Comptroller as its Public Relations Officer;
(vi) The Nigerian Prison Service – has Deputy Comptroller as its Spokesperson.
(vii) The Federal Road Safety Corps – has Corps Commander as its Spokesman.
