ABUJA-Expectations that President Muhammadu Buhari would worship at the Presidential Villa, Abuja mosque having returned to the country from London on Friday failed as he did not show up.
The President has since inception of his administration made the Villa mosque a regular worship center except on special occasions like Eid celebrations.
He had said that worshiping at the National Mosque, Abuja like the past president of Islamic faith would inconvenience many of the Abuja residents as there would be security seal off.
But after a brief meeting with officials of his government and the heads of the security agencies at the First Lady’s Conference room upon his return from London the President retired to his official residence.
He didn’t come out again for the prayers and no official reason was given.
Meanwhile, amongst those that observed the Jumaat service in the Presidential Villa were the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed; the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, his ADC, Chief Security Officer, and other presidential aides who are Muslims.
It is taken for granted that the president would be taking some rest after a six-hour flight from London.
