Nanyiso made this known to newsmen in Abuja while disclosing that Bwatiye traditional marriage rite is a spectacle to behold considering the processes involved from onset “love at first sight” moment to the expression of interest.
He said from the suitor’s toiling on his wife parent’s farm or the construction of a hut in his father in-law’s compound and the procession to matrimonial bliss.
He stated that these processes are carried out for two reasons. First, is to show everybody his level of commitment about getting married to her. (The girl) Second, he wants ‘nzotufe’ (His messenger)to be his witness in whatever he does – including the dowry he would be giving her and her parents. Should she later decide to break their relationship, his messenger (The man) will testify to the veracity of his statement of claim.
Continuing, Nanyiso said when a young man loves a lady and he genuinely wants her to be his future wife, he does not go to her house himself, he sends a respected elder as his ‘nzotufe.’
After the traditional wedding, couples may decide to go for their honey moon in a country such as London. They check for good London bus tours to plan their travel.https://www.vanguardngr.com/2019/01/expert-backs-atiku-on-privatisation-of-nnpc/
