The Confederation of African Football (CAF), has named the referees for the round of 32 of the CAF Champions League encounter between Rangers International of Enugu and Zamalek of Egypt.
Rangers would travel to Cario to face Zamalek , who were the 2016 Champions league runners-up on March 12 at the Borg El-Arab Stadium, before hosting the return leg a week later.
English-born South African referee Daniel Bennett will officiate the first-leg, while Gabon’s Eric Otogo-Castane will referee the second-leg in Nigeria.
The Flying Antelopes, who qualified to the Champions League as the 2016 Nigerian league champions, drew 1-1 against Algeria’s JS Saoura away from home in the preliminary round, before drawing 0-0 in Nigeria to progress to the next stage by the away goals rule.
Meanwhile Christian Chukwu, is optimistic that Rangers would brave the odds and hold their own against Zamalek, arguing that the Flying Antelopes can only respect but not fear their Egyptian opponents .
“We are fully ready for Zamalek. We respect them but we are not afraid of them. We have already started preparation ahead of that encounter,” Chukwu said.
