No other father but God

Paul maintains that Abraham is the father of believers. He says: “(Abraham) received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while still uncircumcised, that he might be the father of all those who believe.” (Romans 4:11). “Therefore it is of faith that it might be according to grace, so that the promise might be sure to all the seed, not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham, who is the father of us all.” (Romans 4:16).

Overcoming faith

Where do you live? Do you live in this world or do you live in Christ? If you are a Christian, then Christ must now be your life. (Colossians 3:4). Moses says to God: “You have been our dwelling place in all generations.” (Psalm 90:1). Paul amplifies this: “In (God). we live and move and have our being.” (Acts 17:28).

Several years ago, I was listening to a powerful sermon by a sister-in-the-Lord, Ethel Aderemi, when the Lord suddenly asked me yet another of his enigmatic questions. “Femi,” he said, “what is the name of Jesus?”

The blessing of trouble

Nobody likes trouble. Nevertheless, it habitually confronts us. In lamentation, Job says: “Man who is born of woman is of few days and full of trouble.” (Job 14:1). However, Jesus presents a completely different paradigm where trouble is good for believers. He tells us to cheer up when we are beset by trouble: “In the world you will have trouble. But cheer up! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33).

U.S. Scientists find new possible cure for leukemia

If I were to ask you to lend me N1,000 of your money, what would you say? You may or may not give the money to me. But if I were to ask you to lend me N1,000 of God’s money, what would you say? Do you keep God’s money with you or not? What precisely is the difference between God’s money and your money?

Married to the Law: Married to Grace (ll)

“Do you not know, brothers – for I am speaking to men who know the law – that the law has authority over a man only as long as he lives? For example, by law a married woman is bound to her husband as long as he is alive, but if her husband dies, she is released from the law of marriage.” (Romans 7:1-2).

Human suffering and the sacrifices of righteousness

Senate committee threatens to issue warrant for arrest of IGP

The man died in the hospital after a long and protracted illness. The doctor conducted a post mortem exam and concluded that the cause of his death was cancer. But the word of God is contrarian. It insists no man has ever died of cancer, but that sin is the one and only cause of all death.

Waiting for God II

On the cross of Calvary, Jesus cried the cry of David, saying: “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?” (Matthew 27:46). By this cry, God became our brother in adversity. Man in Christ cried out to God in frustration and disappointment. God in Christ became our advocate, validating the gospel truth that in our affliction, God is afflicted. (Isaiah 63:9).
