Porsche launches new front, rear and mid-engine models

A HIGHLIGHT in its own right, the new 911 Cabriolet is one of three new sports cars Porsche intends to launch at the 89th Geneva Motor Show. “With each new generation of the 911, we face the challenge of enhancing our iconic car carefully and yet consistently to meet the needs of the future,” says Oliver Blume, Chairman of the Executive Board of Porsche AG. Alongside the rear-engine 911 Cabriolet, Porsche also unveils the mid-engine 718 T, a 300 hp (220 kW) driving machine available in the Boxster and Cayman variants. The Macan S, with a new V6 turbocharged front engine, completes the debuting trio as a bestseller in the brand’s model range.

China leads Porsche sales in 2018

A STRONG year for the Stuttgart-based sports car manufacturer: Porsche AG delivered 256,255 vehicles worldwide in 2018 – more than ever before. This represents a growth of four per cent compared to the existing record figures of the preceding year. Of the model series, the Panamera recorded the strongest percentage growth with a 38 per cent increase to 38,443 deliveries. The 911 also recorded a double-digit rise: despite the release of a new generation of 911, the number of sports cars delivered increased by ten per cent to 35,573 vehicles.

Porsche begins 2018 with most successful first quarter ever

It’s been a successful start to the year: In the first quarter of 2018, Porsche AG delivered around 63,500 vehicles worldwide, equivalent to an increase of six per cent compared with the previous year. This represents the most successful first quarter in the sports car manufacturer’s history. The USA, Europe and the company’s home market in Germany were the main drivers of growth, as well as the Panamera and 911 model lines. The US market recorded the largest overall growth, with deliveries increasing by 10 per cent to around 14,000 vehicles. In terms of the specific models, the Panamera introduced in 2017 achieved the largest percentage growth with an increase of around 200 per cent. The development of the hybrid segment has been especially positive: In Europe, more than 60 per cent of the Panamera models handed over to customers during the first quarter were hybrid versions.
