The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria has commenced the maiden edition of a national essay competition for final-year banking and finance undergraduates in all Nigerian tertiary institutions.
The CIBN, which is calling for entries from eligible participants, said the essay competition, known as ‘Otunba Debola Osibogun’s National Essay Competition for Undergraduates in Banking and Finance’, commenced on June 19, 2018.
It said the essay, titled ‘The digital revolution and the future of banking in Nigeria’, should have a maximum of 1,200 words.
“The competition, whose deadline has been set for July 18, 2018, is open to all final year Banking and Finance undergraduates of universities and polytechnics in Nigeria. They must be accredited by National Universities Commission and the National Board for Technical Education,” the statement added.
According to the CIBN, candidates must provide proof of their eligibility.
The statement said Osibogun, a past president of the institute, endowed the essay competition to serve as a platform for broadening the knowledge as well as improving the writing skills of undergraduates of Banking and Finance in Nigeria.
It added that the entries would be assessed on the parameters of structure, content/adherence to topic, originality and creativity.
“The winners will be presented with their prizes at the 2018 CIBN Graduates’ Induction and Prize ceremony, which is scheduled to hold in August,” the statement said.
