The elections on June 13 won by Ibrahim Gusau was canceled by the an appeals committee set up by the Sports Ministry based on the fact that the process was full of malpractices. As the election holds today one of the contestant, Rosa Collins has called on all the delegates to remain calm and be focus on conducting a free and fair elections from which every contestant will shake hands, rather than resort to blows. This is just as it has emerged that some of the delegates will go to court, if the result does not go their way.
“We are looking forward to a free and fair election devoid of rancor.
We must all conducted ourselves like true sportsmen and women,” said Collins a former Africa triple jump champion.
“If I happen to emerge as president of the AFN all well and good for the sport. Because for me it will be an all encompassing regime of change. But if my opponent emerges I will go over and huge him and offer myself for service, if I am not wanted, I have a home to go to.”
