A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Tuesday ordered the remand of 23- year-old man, Odey James, for stealing 250 euros.
James of Sandralia Hotel, Jabi, Abuja, had pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of theft and escape from lawful custody levelled against him.
The judge, Mr Maiwa Inuwa, ordered that James is remanded in prison until July 30 for sentencing.
The prosecuting counsel, Mrs Ukagha Ijeoma, had told the court that the matter was reported by one Pius Amueze of the same address on July 13 at Utako Police Station, Abuja.
Ijeoma said that on July 12, James dishonestly went to a guest room in the hotel and used a master key to open the room occupied by a foreigner.
She said that James criminally stole five pieces of 50 euro and two pieces of French Franc (FRF) without the consent of the owner.

The prosecutor said efforts to recover the stolen money proved abortive because James could not give a satisfactory account of the said money.
Ijeoma said that during a police investigation, James ran away from lawful custody and was later arrested at Area 11 Garki, Abuja.
She told the court that James admitted committing the offence that contravened Sections 289 and 172 of the Penal Code.
