As Muslims commence this year’s Ramadan fasting, traders have been urged to use the period for intensive supplication to Allah and desist from hiking prices of foodstuff during the period.

The National Chairman, Council of Ulama, Jama’atil Izalatil Bid’ah Wa Iqamatis-Sunnah (JIBWIS), Sheikh Sani Jingir, made the appeal in Jos during the opening of the annual Ramadan Tafsir, frowning at the prevalent rate of drug abuse among youths and women.

According to Jingir, “The fasting period is a time of intensive supplications onto Allah, you are expected to improve on your compassion and help the needy. Therefore, it is antithetical to hike prices of goods  at a time when people are fasting.Illicit drugs or drug abuse has negative impact on the human person as it leads to mental health problems. People become mad and sellers of these drugs should fear Allah, and desist from such vice.”
