The APC received a major boost yesterday after a former PDP governorship aspirant and national spokesman of the PDP, Prince Dayo Adeyeye defected to the APC.

Adeyeye, dumped the PDP after he lost the party’s primary where he garnered 771 votes as against the winner, Prof Kolapo Olusola who got 941 votes.

Adeyeye who had commended the election process as managed by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State subsequently left the venue of the primary and declared that Governor Fayose manipulated the process of the election by giving specific attires to all delegates on the day of the election.

He accused Governor Ayo Fayose of allegedly imposing his deputy on the party as against the will of the majority of members of the party

Addressing a press conference in Ado-Ekiti yesterday, the former National Publicity Secretary of the PDP said his decision to join the All Progressives Congress was borne of his interest to  people of the state. He said together with his supporters across  the state that he would join forces to put a stop to Fayose’s government which he described as “continuity of dictatorship, impunity, imposition, poverty, unprecedented looting of our common patrimony and deliberate debasement of the self esteem of our people. “ He described the candidate of the APC, Dr. Kayode Fayemi as a refined man who is better equipped to move the state forward.

His words, “ For my friends, admirers, patrons and well wishers I want to reiterate that Fayose is an impossible person to deal with. A pompous martinet with a huge ego, he is deliberately divisive and deceitful.  He does not believe in reconciliation and no effort at reconciliation will work with him.

“Therefore after deep introspection and wide consultation with various stakeholders in this state, my supporters and I have decided to leave Egypt which the Fayose administration represents and join hands with patriotic Ekiti people to board the train of the APC for the onward journey to our promised land .

We are not going to begrudge him— Fayose’s aide

Reacting to Adeyeye’s exit from the PDP, Special Assistant to Governor Fayose on public communication and new media, Lere Olayinka said  “We are not going to begrudge him for his political prostitution. We wish him well in his new party. While he was the PDP national spokesman, he had spoken terrible things of the APC and he has now gone to join the same party.

“His confirmation of defecting to APC has lent credence to the rumour earlier that he had romanced with a South West APC governor and collected N200 million from him to perfect his defection to the APC.

“His move to APC will not in any way affect us. This is because majority of those he thought were behind him did not defect with him. In fact, one of his two party agents for the last primary is still with us in PDP and you know what that means. If somebody is your party agent and couldn’t go with you to another party. “Even as he is moving from PDP many others from APC are coming to us, so we have nothing to lose with his defection”.
