GOVERNOR Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State has urged legislators and management staff of the 31 local government councils in the state to ensure grassroots development.
Emmanuel gave the charge, yesterday while declaring open a two-day training workshop organised by the Advisory Committee on Parliamentary Matters in collaboration with National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies, NILDS, for Leaders of Legislative Council, Chairmen of Appropriation Committees, Councillors, Clerks and Sergeant-at-Arms of the local government councils.
The governor, who was represented by his deputy Mr Moses Ekpo, said the dynamic nature and the evolving trends in legislative practice such as Information and Communications Technology, ICT, had necessitated the training.
He said: “This workshop underscores the importance Akwa Ibom State government attaches to the development of local government legislative councils in the state.”
