Chief Daddy opens big at the box office with N40 million

Over the weekend, the new comedy film “Chief Daddy” debuted in cinemas across the country; selling N42.6 million worth of movie tickets in its first three days of regional release.

This makes it the number one film in Nigeria and West Africa. The movie has taken the top spot, surpassing ‘Mortal Engines’, ‘Robin Hood’ and ‘Creed II’. The movie chalked up the second-highest opening weekend for a Nollywood film in 2018 and the third-highest-ever opening weekend for a Nollywood film. This makes it the fifth consecutive number one feature from EbonyLife Films, following Fifty, The Wedding Party, The Wedding Party 2 and The Royal Hibiscus Hotel.


Tunde Kelani resigns as NFVCB chairman to do productive projects

In the short resignation statement, he said, “I wish to announce to you my resignation as Chairman and Member of the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB)…I have found out that my life and career do not fit into this type of structure as presently constituted which cannot recognise its tasks talk less of trying to fulfil it.

“I have also discovered that within the short tenure, that meaningful change is not possible within this large group as constituted (52 in number). My entire life and career have never witnessed the contradictory mentality that is within the board…I am not used to this type of negative behavioural manifestations, therefore, I have decided to quit now with my name and reputation intact. I need to spend my time and energy on productive, developmental, cultural, social and meaningful projects without unnecessary distractions.”


Toke Makinwa’s “Able God” tweet at Ebuka has attracted reactions

Toke Makinwa wrote on Twitter that she has been mishearing Chinko Ekun‘s “Able God,” as “Ebuka”.

“I only just found it it’s “Able God” 😂 I’m I the only one who hears “Ebuka” instead 😂 @Ebuka.”
