THE crisis engulfing the Enugu State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a dangerous dimension as unknown gunmen on Saturday morning stormed the residence of the state chairman of the party, Dr Ben Nwoye, with the aim to kill him.
Dr Nwoye, however, narrowly escaped death by whiskers but the invaders suspected to be hired assassins shot one of the police officers attached to him.
The police officer, Gerald Eke, who was seriously injured by a bullet is currently receiving treatment at the Orthopedic Hospital, Enugu.
As at the time of going to press, a detached group of armed policemen were seen at Nwoye’s premises near Federal Government College, Enugu for an on-the-spot assessment.
