Ex-border agency official joins Benue Assembly race

One-time top official of the Federal Government owned Border Agency Development Agency, Mr. Godwin Edoh, has joined the race for the Benue State House of Assembly on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, with a vow to make laws that would turn around the fortunes of the people of Agatu State Constituency, where he comes from.

Edo, also a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of Agatu Local Government, said he was motivated by the plight of the people and the need to accelerate socio-economic transformation fot he people of the constituency through effective representation.

“I want to go there to do something different and bring rapid development to Agatu,” Edo said while formally declaring his intention before PDP stakeholders and supporters at Obagaji.

“I will also run an open-door policy that would enable my people to have unhindered access to me so as to be able to listen to them and solve their problems,” the politician said.

Edoh said he would hold quarterly constituency briefings where projects reports and evaluations would be brought openly to the knowledge of the people and well deliberated upon by stakeholders, adding that the people would be making inputs before crucial decisions affecting them would be made

.He revealed that as a grassroots politician with the requisite knowledge of the socio-economic challenges facing the Agatu nation, also maintained that the rapid development of the area requires an astute lawmaker with outstanding track record of performance to catapult the area to an enviable community

He gave himself a pass mark for the achievements while in office as the chairman of Agatu LGA, pointing out he constructed access roads, bridges, classroom blocks and health centres during the period.

In their separate comments at the event, the PDP Chairman for Agatu LGA , Mr. Aladan Alowo, described Edoh as a politician with the requisite qualifications and competence necessary for the post he is seeking and pleaded with the people to support him.

Also speaking in the same vein, Mr Megida Ijachi, Mr. Danjuma Sule and Mr. Arome Sarduana from Odugbeho , Obagaji and Enungba respectively and the PDP Woman Leader for Agatu, Zainab Usman, and Chief Jerry Ochola all urged the people of the area to support Edoh’s bid for the House of Assembly seat come 2019.

They noted with satisfaction the positive impact he made while in office as the chairman of Agatu.

The Ochi Adogoji , Chief James Edoh, had earlier given the aspirant his royal blessings when he visited the royal father in his palace.
