….Calls for Igbo Presidency.

The immediate past Chief Judge of Anambra State, Professor Peter Umeadi has insisted that the only solution to Nigeria’s socio-political impasse is for an Igbo person to become the president of the country for eight years.

Prof Umeadi said Igbo have contributed immensely to the development of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and will continue do so, despite the obvious marginalization they have been suffering within the Nigerian federation.

The retired Chief Judge made this known during his reception into the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) at his hometown in Nri, Anaocha Local Government Area, Anambra state.

Umeadi called on Igbo stakeholders, elders and other well-meaning individuals to champion the Igbo course and work unanimously to produce a presidency from South East Zone.

He said the essence of joining APGA was to identify with the progress recorded so far, by Governor Willie Obiano-led administration in the state.

He commended Gov Obiano for judiciously piloting the affairs of the state, especially as it concerns prompt payment of workers salary and general welfare of the masses.

The retired Chief Judge who is currently a Professor of Law at the University of Nigeria, Nsuka, described the game of politics as a venture and vocation, in which the goal of every player must be the upliftment of human dignity.

“Politics should not be seen as a do or die affair”, he added.

Also speaking, the APGA Chairman in Nri Ward One, Mr Austin Igwebuike and the Special Assistant to the Governor on Events, Comrade Anthony Udorji expressed their joy, saying that the Retired Chief Judge’s wealth of experience in law and justice will help boost the fortunes of the party in future elections.

The event which attracted many political stalwarts, climaxed with the formal registration and presentation of party card to Prof Peter Umeadi.
