ABUJA—THE leadership of Third Phase of the Federal Government Amnesty Programme for ex-militants have refuted alleged claims by one Karo and Wisdom Rufus as leaders of the programme.
According to a statement by the Secretary, Third Phase Amnesty, Mr. Tam Odogwu, the duo has never been and are not documented beneficiaries of the third phase amnesty.
The statement read: “Our attention has been drawn to the activities of one Karo and Wisdom Rufus, self-acclaimed leaders of the third phase of the Federal Government amnesty programme.
“To set the record straight, we wish to state that the said Karo and Wisdom have never been and are not documented beneficiaries of the third phase amnesty.
“The only legitimate, authentic and recognised national executive of the third phase is headed by Julius Joseph, Chairman, and Tam Odogwu, Secretary.
“We admonish the general public, especially the amnesty office, the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, and the Federal Government to ignore the antics of these fellows who are out to gain cheap popularity and financial benefits through impersonation and blackmail and that is against our modus operandi.
“Consequently, the impostors are warned to immediately stop parading themselves as the leaders of the third phase and desist from their activities.
“We wish to reiterate our unwavering support to the transformational leadership posture of the Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta Affairs and Chairman, Presidential Amnesty Committee, Gen. Paul Boroh (rtd.), and assure him of our uncompromising resolve to work with him to achieve lasting peace and development in the Niger Delta.”
