Super Eagles youngster, Kelechi Iheanacho, sat on the bench as Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City were held to a replay in the FA Cup after a 0-0 draw against Championship side Huddersfield.
Iheanacho, made City’s match day squad for the first time in six matches, but was one of the four players not used by Guardiola who recalled Claudio Bravo and started with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Nicolas Otamendi and Jesus Navas.
City went close to breaking the deadlock shortly before the break through Sergio Aguero but was thwarted by Joel Coleman, with Huddersfield able to keep out the Premier League side in the second half.
Meanwhile, compatriot Ahmed Musa who played full 90 minutes was not lucky as a last-minute winner from Shaun Cummings dumped Leicester City out of the FA Cup against 10-man Millwall.
However, Wilfred Ndidi watched proceedings from the bench as the Premier League champions were knocked out by the League One outfit.
Ranieri had been true to his word and made 10 changes from the side that lost to Swansea, with only Demarai Gray keeping his place and Molla Wague handed his City debut following a January loan move.
As they had done against Derby, many of City’s second-string began to make persuasive cases for selection in Seville and beyond – only for them to slip away when it mattered.
