THE Federal government cash transfer of N5,000 every month has kick-started in Kaduna with 10,623 beneficiaries drawn from nine local government areas of the state.

Speaking during the flagging off ceremony, the state commissioner for rural and community development, Alh Hassan Usman Hunkuyi said the local governments were drawn from the three senatorial zones.

According to him, ‘in the Northern Senatorial Zone, we have Ikara, Kubau, Lere LGAs, while in the Central Senatorial Zone, we have, Birnin Gwari Chikun, Kajuru LGAs, and the Southern Senatorial Zone, we have Kachia Kauru and Sanga LGAs.

Hunkuyi said each of the beneficiaries will collect the sum of N10,000 because they did not collect the February allowance.

Commending further, the commissioner remarked that the delayed in the disbursement was due to the fact that the federal ministry of finance was computing the names they got from the state.

He stressed that the programme was part of the FG effort to address extreme poverty and other forms of vulnerability under the National Social Safety-Nets Programme (NASSP) in collaboration with the World Bank to support the sustainability of the social protection programme across Nigeria.

‘The Cash Transfer component is to give the selected poorest and most vulnerable household (beneficiary) a monthly cash of Five Thousand Naira Only (5,000.00) in order to enhance their consumption level.

it will be recalled that presently, 21 states are participating in the National Cash Transfer Programme and Kaduna State inclusive. It is a three years (3) programme which commenced in 2016.
