The Gambia’s new national carrier, Fly Mid Africa, will on Monday commence flight services from Banjul, the Gambian capital with onward connections to Dakar in Senegal, Freetown in Sierra Leone, Accra in Ghana and Lagos, Nigeria.
This is sequel to the appointment of Peacock Aviation Services as its General Sales Agent in Nigeria.
A joint statement by the airline and Peacock on Friday said flight services to and fro Lagos would be held four times a week.
The Managing Director, Fly Mid Africa, Mr. Bakary Nyassi, was quoted as saying that the carrier was focused on alleviating the challenges being faced by business and leisure travellers in finding flight connections across key cities in West and Central Africa.
According to him, in addition to operating air services in the target routes, Fly Mid Africa was committed to providing safe, reliable and efficient air transport services to spur economic development and foster regional integration through the promotion of trade and regional tourism.
“Flight connections within Africa should not be a nightmare. Business and leisure passengers should fly within the continent in style,” he noted.
The managing director said Peacock had commenced ticket sales across its offices in the country.
On the partnership with Peacock Aviation, the Fly Mid Africa MD said, “It was a bid to represent Fly Mid Africa in Nigeria. I trust that Peacock will rake in customers to our company and give us early market penetration. Fly Mid Africa is your new baby in Nigeria”
Commenting on the latest development, the Executive Chairman, Peacock Group of Companies, Chief Segun Phillips, expressed gratitude to the management of the airline for making Peacock their preferred GSA in Nigeria.
He said the vision of Fly Mid Air was in consonance with that of Peacock Aviation, which is to offer rewarding travelling experience to passengers in a friendly manner leveraging technology.
According to Phillips, Peacock Holiday has concluded arrangements to launch tour packages to these destinations on the continent especially within the sub-region, taking advantage of the Fly Mid Africa’s full network services within the central and West Africa region.
