Former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, Justice Aloysius Iyorgyer Katsina-Alu is dead.
His demise was confirmed Wednesday morning by the office of the Chief Justice of Nigeria.
Justice Katsina-Alu was born on 28 August 1941). A native of Ushongo in present day Benue State.
Katsina-Alu has been a member of the court since 1998 and rose to be the 12th Chief Justice of Nigeria, the office he held between December 30, 2009, and August 28, 2011.
Meanwhile, the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, other Justices of the Supreme Court and Chief Judges of some states are currently attending a conference organized by the International Society for the Reform of Criminal Law in Montreal, Canada.
