The Chairman, Goddy Jidenma Foundation, Prof. Pat Utomi, has said that good leadership is important to driving economic development.
He said this during a press conference on the 5th Goddy Jidenma Foundation Bi-annual Public Lecture with the theme, ‘The challenge of economic growth in Nigeria’, in Lagos.
Utomi also stated that the foundation was promoting thought leadership through its public lecture series, focusing on strategic and contemporary issues.
“The objectives of the foundation are to promote the spirit of selfless service and support leadership initiatives, to celebrate the human essence, promote self-discovery among the youth, support philanthropic activities and significantly contribute to thought leadership in Nigeria and Africa,” he said.
The Executive Secretary of the foundation, Dr. Ije Jidenma, stated that when the youth had good values, they would be able to identify with the right characters, because leaders did not just emerge, but were prepared.
She said the foundation saw the need to promote leadership skills in the youth, and that notable speakers had been invited to make presentations at the event.
According to her, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Kingsley Moghalu, will speak on the topic of the lecture during the event.
