A Foundation, the Esther Abimbola Ajayi Foundation, has vowed to sponsor 10 members of staff of the Nigerian Christians Pilgrims Commission (NCPC) in Abuja, to perform the pilgrimage to Jerusalem in July, next year.

Founder of the Foundation, Rev. Mother Esther Abimbola Ajayi, who is head of the Love of Christ Generation Church, London, gave the promise, on Tuesday, in Abuja, while on a visit to the head office of the Commission in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Rev. Mother Ajayi, who disclosed that her Foundation is complementing the aspiration of willing but not well-to-do intending pilgrims by sponsoring Nigerians to the Holy Land, maintained that one of the driving spirit behind sending people on pilgrimage was to elevate the spiritual well-being of Nigerians.

Contrary to wide-held belief that Nigerians are crooked people, Rev. Mother Ajayi, however, commended those who had benefited from their sponsorship to the Holy Land had absconded.

According to her, “We have chosen to send people on pilgrimage to Jerusalem because we are poised to elevate the spiritual aspirations of willing and God-fearing Nigerian Christians. We deal with people that are hungry for the Lord; people that have the fear of God in them; people that are on fire for Jesus; people that will never turn us to liars and want to elevate their spiritual understanding of the Word of God. That is why we have never recorded any case of absconding,” she said.

Responding on behalf of the Executive Secretary of the NCPC, Rev. Uja Tor Uja, who was said to be away in Jerusalem on official duty, NCPC’s Director of Operations, Rev. Amos Yohana commended the Foundation for the support and partnership with the Commission over time, saying that last year alone, the Foundation sent 145 Nigerians to Jerusalem with all expense paid.

According to Rev. Yohana, “The NCPC is proud to be associated with Rev. Mother Esther Ajayi because of what she has been doing especially for Nigerians. This woman is the pillar of pilgrimage in Nigeria. At the last pilgrimage to Israel alone, the Foundation sent 145 people to Jerusalem.

“In many instances, pilgrimage is often used as political instruments where you don’t know who will come back and who will not.

“The Esther Ajayi Foundation, our records have shown, carefully select those sent on pilgrimages as we have never recorded any absconding with them.”

Rev. Yohana also said that the wish of the Executive Secretary of the NCPC is that the Foundation should consider enriching the knowledge of pilgrims by using their visits to the Holy Land to broadening their Agricultural knowledge since the Foundation mostly select people from the rural areas as beneficiaries of its scheme.

The Foundation had launched the Israel chapter last January 3 in Jerusalem.
