Due to the ongoing construction along the Abeokuta-Ota-Lagos corridor, motorists plying the Sango-Owode-Ifo axis have been warned to drive cautiously and avoid moving against the traffic around the Owode, Ogun State area.
The State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Clement Oladele, who issued the warning in a statement, yesterday, said the rehabilitation has necessitated increased activities around the Owode axis.
He said that as standard practice, the construction company, working with the FRSC, has a mandate to ensure the safety of construction workers and equipment at sites.
“There could be need for diversion or restriction of traffic. To this end, the FRSC is working with the construction company to manage traffic and ensure motorists are not only safe, but encounter minimum discomfort.
“Motorists are advised to, not only, plan their trips with allowance for extra time to maneuvre construction sites, but most importantly obey all traffic rules, including avoiding driving against traffic. Violators could be prosecuted,” he said.
Oladele enjoined motorists to cooperate with the construction company, the FRSC and other sister traffic and emergency agencies deployed around the construction areas.
In the same vein, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Sector Commander, Wobi Ayuba, expressed dissatisfaction over reckless driving.
