Tyson Fury has dubbed Anthony Joshua a “pumped-up weightlifter” in a brutal assessment of the British fighter’s career.

Tyson Fury has been in the US this week conducting press interviews for his fight against Deontay Wilder – but it has not stopped him from hitting out at Anthony Joshua.

Joshua defended his IBF, WBA, IBO and WBO titles against Alexander Povetkin last month.

But the 28-year-old has been a regular target of the Gypsy King on social media, most recently saying AJ and his promoter Eddie Hearn were “frightened to death” of him.

And Fury did not miss the opportunity to have another go at the Brit during an interview on ESPN.
He said: “I don’t know about all this Joshua talk. The guy’s a pumped-up weightlifter, he’s not even a fighter.

“He’s been given hand-selected opponents and gifted [a gold medal] in his own country.

“You’re looking at the two best heavyweights on the planet – the biggest puncher on Earth [Wilder] and the slickest boxer in the division.

“I’m the lineal heavyweight champion of the world, going back to John L. Sullivan days.

“For any of these guys to be considered ‘the man’, they have to beat the Gypsy King sat right here in front of them.”

Fury and Wilder will face each other at the Staples Center, Los Angeles, on December 1.
