Former Nigerian midfielder, Garba Lawal has joined the football enthusiasts to applaud The Sun Publishing Limited’s initiative of organising a seminar to boost support for the national team.

The seminar, which was drawing the attention of football buffs in the country, was slated for May 22 in Port Harcourt, River State.

The event, according to the organizers was planned to kick-off with Super Eagles’ farewell match against Congo before they depart the country for Europe to intensify their preparations for the global fiesta.

Lawal, a member of the Super Eagles to France ’98 World Cup averred that results of the previous Nigeria games could have been better if brainstorming sessions like that of The Sun had taken place.

“I am very happy about this. I see the seminar as a one, which will ginger the team to excel in Russia.

“I love listening to this kind of initiative. Who knows we would have gone far in previous World Cups if events like this was organised.

“We are yet to excel beyond the second round at the FIFA World Cup. I see this present team breaking that jinx. The team is filled with young talented footballers that are willing to make name.

“Let us be sincere with ourselves, Rohr and the present NFF board are currently working hard. All we need do is to keep supporting them with prayer and well wishes.

“His 30-man squad he realised of recent has shown he knows where he is going. One again I appalled The Sun for this great initiative,” he remarked.
