The 5th annual Gidi Culture Festival, popularly known as GidiFest, is set to hold at the Hard Rock Café Lagos beach front, with 2face, Wizkid, Maleek berry, Adekunle Gold, Brymo, Mayorkun, Ycee and SDC as headliners, on the 30 of March, 2018.
Speaking at a briefing in lagos, The Chief Executive Officer, GidiFest, Mr Chinedu Okeke expressed that since its inception, GidiFest has found its way from Eko Atlantic, where it has been hosted for three years, to a new home at Hard Rock Cafe Beach Front, with the mission of bringing new changes, additions and creating a theme that celebrates the African youth.
“This year, GidiFest introduces the Gidi Tribe, an evolution of the identity that has found a home in GidiFest. The Tribe represents the new African generation that refuses to be defeated or defined by their circumstances”.
“It’s an emergence of young, determined individuals coming together to break down boundaries, who refuse to take no for an answer and rewrite the status quo”
He stated that there will be opening of the second stage for the Next generation artistes.
“2018 GIDIFEST promises to be bigger, better, and fun-filled, avoiding repeated mistakes and also expanding the fun activities of the Festival.
2face Idibia, who was also present at the briefing, said that GidiFest has been in existence for year and he has never been opportuned to be physically present. The popular artiste, however, indicated that this year’s event will be different from the norm because he would be available to support the organiser’s efforts in promoting what is known as ‘Gidi’ culture. This year, the organisers are introducing a second stage that will raise up the next generation of very talented artists that are moving the underground and redefining the Nigerian sound. The new wave will be represented by D-Truce, Makka, Remmy Baggins, Lady Donli, D-O, CHYN, Jinmi Abduls, Jamal Swiss.
The festival has in previous years featured African and international acts and this year will be no different so stay tuned for the second announcement that will fortify the Gidi Culture Festival as the foremost and most progressive music festival on the continent that has set out to empower the youth and bridge the gap on and off the continent.
