As part of effort towards the promotion of peace and harmonious co-existence in Nigeria, a group of renowned business and social sector leaders have launched the Center for Peace Reorientation and Human Development “CPRHD”.
In a statement issued in Lagos yesterday by the national coordinator, Dr. Ikem Ume-Ezeoke, said the group is poised to advance the course of peace in Nigeria and to pursue accountability in leadership, both in government and in the private sector. Also in ensuring that majority of Nigerian’s young population who are desirous of genuine development are aware of their role in bringing about national development.
The statement read in part “CPRHD is committed to the course of peace in a way that all ethnic nationalities and groups within Nigeria can see the benefits in harmoniously living together and willing to contribute to national development. We desire a rancor free Nigeria, a Nigeria without ethnic, religious and political divides, a Nigeria in which citizens are proud and aware of their civic duties and can hold leadership accountable”
Dr. Ume-Ezeoke further noted that the Centre for Peace Reorientation and Human Development will soon embark on a nation-wide sensitization campaign with the goal being to bring relevant stakeholders together to dialogue on ways to achieve lasting peace and also to enlighten Nigerians about their common nationality, and the need to forge a common front in addressing the numerous challenges confronting the country.
In his words “we can no longer continue to complain; everybody seems to know the problems but few people are coming forward with solutions. We need solutions now, not constant reminder of our problems; we already know enough of our problems. So, the CPRHD will be focusing on solutions while consulting with key stakeholders in the Nigerian project, especially the masses who are instrumental to electing leaders, toward finding lasting solutions. This platform is to educate and enlighten citizens toward recruiting the right leaders. The country has suffered so much because of leaders who are not compassionate or empathic enough towards the people”
According to the legal adviser to the group, Osadolor Solomon Isioma “CPRHD is a vehicle for actualizing national and human development. Given the agenda we have set for ourselves, we are determined to bring back peace and harmony to this country through dialogue, working in partnership with other groups. We believe that the right national orientation is important so we will pursue this aggressively”.
