Guinness Nigeria Plc, Jaiz Bank Plc, Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc, Dangote Flour Plc and Vitafoam Nigeria Plc emerged the top five gainers at the close of trading on the floor of the Nigerian Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
The NSE market capitalisation appreciated by N50bn to close at N13.147tn from N13.097tn recorded on Tuesday. The NSE All-Share Index stood at 38,144.02 basis points from 37,999.56 basis points.
A total of 328.653 million shares valued at N6.101bn were traded in 4,983 deals.
The shares of Guinness advanced by 10.23 per cent, to close at N87.50; while JaizBank, NAHCO, Dangote Flour and Vitafoam recorded 10 per cent, 9.97 per cent, 9.55 per cent and 5.02 per cent rise, respectively.
The equities market measured by the NSE ASI advanced by 0.38 per cent at the end of trading activities, settling the year-to-date return at 41.93 per cent. The market recorded 21 gainers and 23 laggards.
However, Champion Breweries Plc led the loser’s chart, declining by 9.32 per cent, to close at N2.53. Livestock Feeds Plc, Conoil Plc, Continental Reinsurance Plc and Eterna Plc followed on the losers’ list, shedding five per cent, 4.97 per cent, 4.51 per cent and 4.50 per cent, accordingly.
