Herdsmen kidnap Plateau Poly chaplain’s son

Jos—herdsmen have reportedly invaded the house of Rev. Andrew Dido, Chaplain of Plateau State Polytechnic, Heipang, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area, Plateau State, and abducted the cleric’s 12-year-old son, Kim.

The incident, a family friend who did not want to be named said, occurred at some minute after 8p.m., Wednesday, when Rev. Dido and other family members were at their residence in the premises of the institution.



The source said: “Three armed herdsmen invaded the house and demanded money, which they could not get. They then resorted to the abduction of Kim.”

Confirming the incident, the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Mathias Tyopev, said: “On February 20 at about 12:15a.m., Plateau State Police Command received information from Pastor Andrew Dido, Chaplain of Plateau Polytechnic, Heipang, that at about 8:40p.m., unknown gunmen broke into his quarters in the institution and kidnapped his 12-year-old son, Kim Dido, to an unknown destination.

“He further stated that the kidnappers also took his mobile (number 08036044144). On the receipt of the information, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, Isaac Akinmoyede, directed the DPO of Barkin Ladi Division to beef up security in the institution.

“He also raised a rescue team that is currently on the trail of the kidnappers.

“Akinmoyede also visited the family of Dido and the management of Plateau Polytechnic yesterday, and assured them of the Command’s determination to rescue the boy and to beef up security in and around the school.

“People are encouraged to volunteer information that will lead to the timely rescue of the boy and arrest of the perpetrators of this criminal act.”
