THE Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Suraj Adekunbi, on Sunday, raised the alarm over an alleged move by the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the National level to substitute his name as the House of Representatives candidate to represent Egbado North/Imeko-Afon federal constituency.

Adekunbi in a statement signed by his Special Assistant, Media Matters, Waheed Akinola, alleged that there was a plan to swap his name with that of Hon. Kayode Oladele, who is currently occupying the seat.

The lawmaker claimed that he was the winner of the primary election conducted by the party with a total vote of 12,182 against 9,808 votes garnered by Oladele.

He said there was an attempt to reduce 900 votes he polled at Ilara, in Imeko Afon to 103 votes, insisting that he was the winner of the election while claiming that the announcement and declaration by the National Working Committee and the various records submitted from various wards bear testimony to his claim.

The statement read, “At this juncture, we trust that the National Working Committee of our great party will do what is right by allowing the collective decision of our people to prevail. We believe that the petitioner and petition will be given a fair hearing before reaching conclusion on this matter. That is the natural part to justice.”
