In a video message to Nigerians as they join the world to mark the New Year, Senator Ben Murray-Bruce has warned that there must be a difference in the way the government runs 2017.
He also asked President Muhammadu Buhari and others in the government to now stop blaming past leaders for the country’s rot.
He said, instead, that it was time to squarely face the challenges that have overtaken the country and make the citizens smile.
According to him, there should be “no more blaming the Peoples Democratic Party. There is enough blame to go round Nigeria, bubt unfortunately, not enough solutions.”
Senator Murray-Bruce, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is one of those who think 2016 remains one of the worst years in the history of Nigeria.
In the video, Bruce who hails from Bayelsa, the same state where former President Goodluck Jonathan comes from, recalled how 2016 was full of political bickering and how the citizens were divided along party and other lines.
He reminded the people that unity should take pre-eminence in 2017 adding that when two brothers fight, it is the neighbours that inherit their property.
“We must make 2017 ‘the year of solutions’.
“I call on all Nigerians irrespective of their political, religious or regional persuasions to put aside these differences and let us work together to defeat recession,” he added.
He also urged the citizens to patronize made-in-Nigeria to grow the naira.
