LAFIA—NO fewer than 138,706 votes were cancelled in the just-concluded governorship election in Nasarawa State, returning officer, Professor Abdullahi Bala, has announced.
According to the returning officer, 96,973 votes were cancelled from 27 polling units in Karu Local Government Area; 22,891 from 15 polling units in Nasarawa Local Government Area.
Bala, who attributed the cancellation in 59 polling units across the state to over-voting, ballot snatching and insecurity, said other cancellations of 4,145 votes were from four polling units in Obi council; 3,571 in two polling units in Kokona and 4,202 in three polling units in Keffi.
Also cancelled were 3,189 votes from two polling units in Awe; 2,018 from four units in Doma and 1,717 from two polling units in Akwanga council.
